Step 2: Preparing the Chicken

For this recipe, we will use 1 kg of chicken. We’ve washed it thoroughly and placed it in a strainer to ensure there is no water left. We are using medium-sized pieces of chicken, so curry cuts are ideal.

Step 3: Heating the Oil

Place a pot on the stove and add 1 tablespoon of oil. We don’t need a lot of oil; just enough to fry the onions. Once the oil heats up, add four medium-sized onions. Chop them roughly—don’t make them too fine or too thick. Rough chopping adds texture to the curry.

Step 4: Frying the Onions

Fry the onions for 4-5 minutes until they turn golden brown. Once the onions are brown, add 2 tablespoons of ginger-garlic paste and 3 green chilies, chopped roughly. Stir everything together and cook until the raw smell disappears.

Step 5: Adding Tomatoes

Add 3 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped roughly. Stir the tomatoes into the mixture. Let the tomatoes cook down, and then add 1 ½ teaspoons of salt (adjust to your taste). This helps the tomatoes cook faster. Now, add ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 6: Cooking the Tomato Gravy

Allow the tomatoes to cook for a few minutes until they soften. Then, add a quarter cup of water to help the mixture cook. Lower the flame and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally and check for oil separation from the gravy.

Step 7: Adding the Chicken

Now, add the chicken to the pot. Fry the chicken on high heat for about 5 minutes. Stir regularly to coat the chicken with the spices. Continue frying until the chicken changes color and is well-coated with the gravy.

Step 8: Adding Spices

After the chicken is well-fried, add 1 ½ teaspoons of red chili powder and 1 tablespoon of chicken masala (you can use store-bought or homemade). Stir everything well and cook for a few minutes.

Step 9: Adding Water

Add 200 ml (one glass) of water and mix well. You’ll notice small bubbles forming. Lower the flame to medium-low, cover the pot, and let it cook for 20 minutes. Stir it once or twice during this time.

Step 10: Final Cooking

After 20 minutes, your chicken curry will be ready. The gravy will be smooth and delicious. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, mix well, and turn off the heat. Let it rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Step 11: Serving the Curry

After 2 minutes, your chicken curry is ready to serve! The chicken looks amazing, and the gravy is rich in flavor. This recipe is super easy and is sure to be loved by everyone, even kids! When you serve it, your family will be thrilled. Don’t forget to try it and let us know how it turned out. Share where you’re watching this recipe from in the comments!
