Today, we will make a very delicious, crispy, crunchy, and spicy **Chinese Potato Sticks** recipe. This recipe is very easy to make and a low-budget option for Festivals. If you’re bored of eating chicken and other snacks, then you must try this recipe. It’s as easy to prepare as it is fun to eat!

Step 1: Preparing the Potatoes

Peel 4-5 medium-sized raw potatoes and soak them in water to prevent them from turning black. Cut the potatoes in half and then into small pieces. This ensures the spices coat the potatoes well for maximum flavor.

Wash the cut potatoes thoroughly 1-2 times to remove any starch.

Step 2: Skewering the Potatoes

Take wooden sticks and insert them into the potato pieces, placing 5-6 potato pieces on each stick.Be careful not to overfill the sticks, as the potatoes are raw and can break.

Step 3: Boiling the Potatoes

In a large vessel, bring 2-3 glasses of water to a boil.Add 1 tbsp salt, ½ tsp turmeric powder, and ½ tsp red chili powder to the boiling water to infuse flavor into the potatoes.

Once the water is boiling, add the skewered potatoes and boil on medium-high flame for 4-5 minutes.

We don’t need to cook the potatoes fully; just cook them until they’re 80-90% done. This ensures they will crisp up perfectly when fried.

Test doneness by inserting a knife; it should slide in easily but not be fully soft. After boiling, remove the potatoes and set them aside to cool.

Step 4: Preparing the Coating

1) 1 tbsp red chili sauce (or hot sauce)

2) 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

3) 1 tbsp white vinegar

4) 1 tsp dark soy sauce

5) 2 tsp Schezwan sauce

6) 1 tsp crushed red chilies (adjust to taste)

7) ½ tsp black pepper powder

8) ¾ tsp salt (or to taste)

9) ½ tsp sugar

Add ½ cup of all-purpose flour and ½ cup of water to the sauce mixture. Mix until it forms a slightly thick batter.

The batter should be thick enough to coat the potatoes but not too runny.

Step 5: Coating the Potato Sticks

Dip each skewered potato into the batter, ensuring the potatoes are well coated. If the batter doesn’t completely cover the potato, use a spoon to pour the batter over the potato stick.

Roll the coated potatoes in bread crumbs to create a crispy outer layer.Repeat this process for all potato sticks.

Step 6: Freezing (Optional)

At this point, you can store the prepared potato sticks in a ziplock bag or an airtight container and freeze them for 1-2 weeks.

Step 7: Frying the Potato Sticks

Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the potato sticks into the oil, one by one. Fry the potato sticks on medium-high flame for about 6-7 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Ensure the oil temperature is not too high, as this can burn the outside while leaving the inside undercooked. If the oil is too low, the potato sticks will absorb more oil and not crisp up properly.

Once they are golden and crispy, remove the potato sticks from the oil and drain the excess oil on paper towels.

Step 8: Serving

Serve these crispy, crunchy, and spicy Chinese Potato Sticks with tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, or any dipping sauce of your choice.

Thank You….♥️
