Let’s Start Recipe
Today, we will prepare a very tasty, fun, and crispy **Fish Fry** recipe. This fish fry is perfect for the winter season and tastes absolutely amazing. You can serve it with green chutney and onion lachhu, or even with rice and dal. It is much easier to make than it looks, and it is incredibly tempting. Let’s start!
Step 1: Marinating the Fish
After washing 1 kg of Katla fish thoroughly, place it in a strainer to drain any excess water. Once the fish is dry, it’s time to marinate.
In a mixer, blend 5-6 green chilies, 2-inch ginger piece, and 20-25 garlic cloves with 1-2 tbsp water to make a smooth paste.
Add the paste to the fish and mix it well.
Add the following spices:
1) 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
2) ½ tsp turmeric powder
3) 1 tsp red chili powder
4) 1 tsp garam masala
5) 1 tbsp chili flakes
6) 1 tsp carom seeds
7) ¾ tsp salt
8) 2 tsp crushed whole coriander
9) 2-3 tbsp lemon juice
10) 1 tsp kasoori methi
11) A pinch of orange-red food color (optional)
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and rub the spices into the fish. Let it marinate for at least 2-3 hours. The longer the fish marinates, the tastier it will be. You can also marinate it overnight in the fridge.
Step 2: Preparing the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix the following ingredients:
1) 2 tbsp gram flour
2) 2 tbsp rice flour (or cornflour)
Mix the flours thoroughly to remove any lumps. Gradually add a little water to form a thick paste. The batter should be thick enough to coat the fish properly. Once the paste is ready, we will apply it to the marinated fish just before frying.
Step 3: Frying the Fish
Heat oil in a pan on medium to high flame.
Coat the marinated fish pieces with the prepared paste of gram flour and rice flour.
Carefully place the fish pieces in the hot oil. Fry them on medium flame for 2-3 minutes without touching them to allow them to firm up and become crispy.
After 2-3 minutes, flip the fish to the other side and fry it until it becomes golden brown and crispy. Fry each piece for about 6-7 minutes until it is cooked through.
* Avoid frying on high flame to prevent burning the outside while keeping the inside raw. Similarly, don’t fry on low flame, as this will make the fish absorb excess oil.

Step 4: Draining the Oil
Once the fish is crispy and golden, remove it from the oil and place it on absorbent paper or a tissue to drain any excess oil. Repeat the process for the remaining fish pieces.
Step 5: Serving the Fish Fry
Serve the crispy, flavorful fish fry hot with green coriander mint chutney, onion lachhu, or even with dal and rice.
Thank You….♥️
