Let’s Start Recipe
Today, we are going to make a **delicious and quick Lemon Pepper Chicken**. It has a very smooth, tender gravy and takes only **15-20 minutes** to prepare. This dish can be made for special occasions or when you want to treat your family. It requires very few spices and is very easy to make. Let’s start the recipe!
Step 1 : 🐔 Marinating the Chicken
Start with **1 kg of chicken** (with bones). Wash it thoroughly and drain all the water.
Now, let’s marinate it. Add:
1.5 teaspoons salt (adjust to taste) *
*1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
*1 tablespoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
Juice of 1 large lemon (or 2 small lemons)
1.5 cups yogurt** (about 300 grams)
2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
Mix everything well and coat the chicken thoroughly. If you have time, marinate it for **2 hours**. If not, **30 minutes** is enough. You can even marinate it overnight for better results.
Step 2 : 🍳 Cooking the Chicken
After marinating, heat **½ cup of oil** in a **pan**.
* Add the following whole spices:
1 large cardamom
2 green cardamoms
4-5 cloves
2-3 small cinnamon sticks
5-6 black peppercorns
Let the spices fry a little on low flame to release their flavors.
Now, add the marinated **chicken pieces** to the pan, making sure they’re not stacked on top of each other.
Fry** the chicken on **high flame** until **marks** appear on the chicken (about **5-6 minutes**).
You can cover the pan for a while to allow the chicken to cook evenly while also getting fried.
Once you see the marks, **flip the chicken** and continue frying without covering it, allowing the marks to set properly.
Step 3 : 🧅 Adding the Onions
Once the chicken is fried, add **1 chopped large onion** and spread it over the chicken.
This will cook the onions while also making them soft, without needing to fry them separately.
Continue cooking on high flame. The chicken will release moisture as it cooks, which will evaporate quickly, and the chicken will continue to fry.
Step 4 : 🔥 Cooking the Chicken
After **12-13 minutes**, you will see the onions softening, and the chicken will have marks and be almost cooked.
* **Stir** the chicken pieces, and then add the **dahi (yogurt)** mixture.
Add **5-6 whole green chilies** for a nice kick and flavor.
Cover the pan and cook for another **10-12 minutes** on **medium flame** to allow the chicken to cook completely.
Step 5 :💧Thickening the Gravy
* In a bowl, take **1 cup of water** and mix **1 tablespoon of cornflour** in it. Stir well to dissolve.
Add this mixture to the chicken and cook for **2-3 minutes** to thicken the gravy.
Once the gravy thickens, add **1 teaspoon kasuri methi** and **1 teaspoon coarsely crushed black pepper.
Stir everything well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
* Be careful not to make the gravy too thick, as it will continue to thicken over time.

Step 6 : 🍋 Finishing Touches
Once the gravy has reached your desired consistency, add a **1-inch piece of ginger (julienned)** and a few **slices of lemon** (about **5-6 slices**).
Cover and cook for another **2 minutes** on low flame.
Finally, garnish with **1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander**.
🍽️ Serving the Dish
Lemon Pepper Chicken** is now ready! You can serve it with chapati, paratha, naan, or rice.
