Let’s Start Recipe
Today, I’m sharing a **super tasty and healthy Masala Fish Fry recipe** that is very easy to make and tastes delicious! It’s perfect as a **starter** served with **mint-coriander chutney** and **onion rings**. It’s going to be so tasty that you’ll want to make it again and again. Let’s start the recipe!
Step 1 : Preparing the Masala Paste
For the masala paste, we’ll need:
1) 2 tablespoons mustard seeds
2) 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
3) ½ teaspoon black pepper
4) 15-20 garlic cloves
5) 1-inch piece of ginger
6) 2-3 green chilies (adjust according to your spice preference)
7) ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
8) 2-3 tablespoons water
Add all these ingredients into a blender and grind them into a **smooth paste**. Here’s how the masala paste should look after grinding. Set this aside for now.
Step 2 :Marinating the Fish
Now, we’ll marinate **1 kg of Pomfret fish**. After washing the fish thoroughly, make sure it’s completely **dry**. There should be no water in the fish. For marination, we’ll use:
1) 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
2) 1 teaspoon red chili powder (I’m using Kashmiri red chili powder for color, but you can use regular chili powder)
3) ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
4) 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
5) 2 tablespoons lemon juice (this is essential for flavor and to remove any fishy odor)
Now, add the prepared masala paste to the fish and mix it well using your **hands**. The masala should coat the fish thoroughly. Let the fish marinate for at least **2 hours**. If you have more time, you can marinate it overnight in the fridge for a deeper flavor.

Step 3 : Frying the Fish
In a **pan**, add **4-5 tablespoons mustard oil** (you can use any oil you prefer). Heat the oil, then add a few **curry leaves** to infuse flavor into the oil. After the oil heats up, arrange the **fish pieces** in the pan without overcrowding them.
Keep the **flame low to medium** and fry the fish for about **3-4 minutes** on one side. Avoid flipping it too often, as it can break apart. After 3-4 minutes, flip the fish gently and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
Add **more curry leaves** as the fish fries, because fresh curry leaves bring a **wonderful flavor** to the fish. Continue frying for about **10-15 minutes**, flipping the fish 2-3 times to ensure it cooks well on both sides. Don’t flip it too many times, as fish is delicate and may break.
Step 4 : Serving the Masala Fish Fry
Once the fish is golden and crispy on both sides, take it out of the pan. Your **Masala Fish Fry** is ready to be served!
Serve it with **mint-coriander chutney**, **onion rings**, or alongside **naan** or **roti**. It’s perfect as a starter or with a main meal. This fish fry is sure to be loved by everyone!
Thank You…♥️
