Rohu Fish Fry Recipe
Ingredients
1) Rohu fish pieces – 600 to 800 g
2) Ginger-garlic paste – 2 teaspoons
3) Salt – 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
4) Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
5) Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
6) Kashmiri chili powder – 1 teaspoon (optional, for color)
7) Roasted crushed cumin – 1 teaspoon
8) Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
9) Garam masala powder – ½ teaspoon
10) Black pepper powder – ½ teaspoon
11) Lemon juice – juice of 1 lemon (slightly extra)
12) Mustard oil – 2 teaspoons (or vegetable oil)
13) Cooking oil (for frying) – 2 to 3 tablespoons

Step 1: Preparing the Fish
Take **600–800 g Rohu fish pieces**. Wash them well and pat dry.
For marination, add:
1) 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
2) 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
3) ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
4) 1 teaspoon red chili powder (or to taste)
5) 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder (optional, for color)
6) 1 teaspoon roasted crushed cumin
7) 1 teaspoon coriander powder8. ½ teaspoon garam masala
9) ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
10) Juice of 1 lemon (add a little extra to remove fish smell)
11) 2 teaspoons mustard oil (or vegetable oil)
Mix all ingredients well into a smooth marinade. The consistency should not be too thin.

Step 2: Coating the Fish
Rub the masala evenly over all fish pieces.Apply it on both sides and also on the edges so flavors seep inside.Make a medium layer of coating, not too thick or too thin.
Marinate the fish for **1–2 hours** (longer if you have time, for better flavor).
Step 3: Frying the Fish
Heat **2–3 tablespoons oil** in a pan on medium flame. Do not overcrowd the pan; fry only as many pieces as fit comfortably.
Place the fish pieces carefully in the pan. Fry for **2–3 minutes** on one side without touching them.
Once the side sets, flip carefully and fry for another **2–3 minutes**.
Fish cooks quickly. Do not over-fry. Turn sides only **2–3 times** to avoid breaking the fish. 🐟
Total frying time: about **8–10 minutes** until golden and crisp.
Remove the fried fish and keep aside.
Step 4: Serving
Your crispy, spicy, and flavorful **Rohu Fish Fry** is ready. Serve hot with Dal and rice.
